Velddrif is located in the heart of the Berg River Municipality in the Western Cape, approximately 145 kilometers north of Cape Town. The town borders the Atlantic Ocean and boasts a 4.5-kilometer natural beachfront, making it one of the most attractive development locations on South Africa’s west coast.

Project Overview: 2,700 Hectares on the West Coast
With a total area of 2,700 hectares, divided into urban development and energy, water and industrial infrastructure (Velddrif Water & Power), EcoVision Velddrif forms the heart of the sustainable West Coast region.
The city is designed to be entirely powered by green energy from the Northern Cape KTE.energy project. The GreenLink corridor will carry electricity, hydrogen, water, and data—the lifelines that power EcoVision Velddrif. The goal is to create an energy-self-sufficient, water-independent and digitally connected city that also serves as an economic and cultural center for the entire region.

EcoVision Velddrif follows the guiding principle of a “15-minute city” : all essential areas of life – living, working, education, health, leisure – are accessible within 15 minutes, on foot, by bicycle or by emission-free means of transport.
